First snow makes it tough to get around

December 5, 2010 (CHICAGO)

In most parts of Chicago there was not much to dig out from. Streets and Sanitation managed to keep most of the main streets were clear.

IDOT salt trucks deployed Friday night kept the expressways mostly dry, although some slick spots remain, so it's important to be careful.

Illinois State Police reported about 40 accidents Saturday on Chicago-area expressways. None of them were serious.

No injuries were reported after a Sunday morning spin-out in Des Plaines.

A few people had to spend the night at O'Hare airport after 325 flights were canceled Saturday.

Both Midway and O'Hare airports reported that operations were back to normal on Sunday.
