Housing group protests outside Kirk's office

A group called the Chicago Housing Initiative held a protest outside Senator Mark Kirk's downtown office Monday.

Members wore Santa hats and sang a modified version of a popular Christmas song.

They are calling on Kirk to help pass federal budget before congress adjourns this Friday.

They say it contains funding that would help low and moderate income families pay their rents.

Kirk's office issued a statement saying he appreciates hearing from voters, but he's currently focused on stopping what he calls "one of the largest tax increases in American history."
