Salvation Army contributions to be matched

December 21, 2010 (CHICAGO) Three anonymous donors have offered to match all donations to red kettles across the Chicago area for 4 days.

Through Christmas Eve, all donations up to a total of $300,000 will be matched by the group.

A fourth anonymous donor has agreed to match up to 100 gold coins found in the kettles.

So far, the Salvation Army has received 12 gold coins.

"The Salvation Army has made a commitment throughout 2011 to remain on the front lines of need, and in order for us to do that, we're still looking at raising $5 million in our major Christmas campaign," said Lt. Col. Ralph Bukiewicz of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army provides many programs for the homeless, children and seniors.
