The archbishop of Chicago went to Children's Memorial Hospital to meet with youngsters who could not be home on this Christmas Day.
He asked about their conditions, their families, and their class work, prayed for their recovery, and told them they will remain in his prayers.
Earlier in the day, Cardinal George celebrated Christmas mass with male detainees at the Cook County Department of Corrections.
The mass was in Division 11, which is a medium security facility.
