Low-fat diet could increase lifespan

December 31, 2010

Now a study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association tries to put a number on that benefit.

Older people who follow healthy diets may live up to 10 years longer.

According to the report, those who ate a high-fat diet rich in ice cream, cheese and whole milk had the highest risk of death.

Those sticking with low-fat dairy, fruit, whole grains, poultry, fish and vegetables seemed to lead longer lives.
