Chicago restaurant uses iPad as wine list

January 3, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Chicago Cut Steakhouse in the city's River North neighborhood offers guests iPads for perusing its lengthy wine list.

The restaurant uses 40 iPads that list Chicago Cut's 800 wine selections. The iPads include information about each wine's taste, price and its vineyard.

Managing partner David Flom says the iPad has increased Chicago cut's wine sales because guests keep the iPad at the table and become interested in trying various wines.

Other restaurants, including Au Bon Pain, are also using iPads as menus.
