NewsViews: State Rep. Tom Cross

January 2, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The General Assembly goes into session on Monday, Jan. 3, and we'll discuss the state's growing budget crisis, its inability to pay its bills, and what can be done to ease the deficit. Will the income tax be raised? Are five new gambling casinos, including one in Chicago, a partial solution?

And we'll discuss other issues, such as whether to continue the death penalty moratorium that Gov. Ryan imposed in 2000, and redrawing Congressional districts (the Census confirms that Illinois will lose a U.S. House seat).
