Police shoot 3 in separate incidents

Officers shot and wounded two people in the 4300-block of West Roosevelt. Police say they tried to stop a car allegedly transporting drugs and weapons. According to authorities, the driver hit a squad car and an officer.

Police say they opened fire on two men after one pointed a gun at officers. The men were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two police officers were also treated for injuries.

In the other shooting, one person was hit by police gunfire near 4200 S. Calumet at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. In this case, officers say the suspect pointed a gun at them.

That person was taken to a hospital in good condition.

Police said a weapon was recovered at the scene. No officers were hurt.
