CTA Train Tracker now available for riders

January 8, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The train tracker system estimates travel times based on an average of recent trips over a specific stretch of track.

Mayor Daley was on hand to announce the launch and said the new technology would make traveling more convenient.

CTA Pres. Richard Rodriguez was quick to state the new system was a preliminary release.

"I want to emphasize that this is the preliminary release of the beta CTA train tracker website, and adjustments will be made to improve its appearance, functionality and accuracy," Rodriguez said.

To view estimated train arrival times, riders can go to http://www.transitchicago.com/traintracker/.

Once signed up for the Train Tracker, riders can choose a rail line and station to monitor. Results refresh every 20 to 30 seconds.
