'Honeybee' shooting victims attend benefit

January 9, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Joshua Garza and Matt Burton were working on a home in Beecher, Ill., when a man approached and began shooting. Burton was able to get away, but Garza was shot in the head.

A third man was killed.

Garza is a musician, and he was set to perform Sunday evening at a benefit taking place in Dyer, Indiana.

The proceeds will go to the victims.

"Independence has like been taken away. I can't really do anything by myself. I just can't do it," said Joshua Garza.

"I've changed dramatically. I mean, it can be taken from you that quick, everything, you know, just in a matter of somebody pulling a trigger," said Michael Burton.

Investigators think a man killed during an attempted robbery at an Orland Park tanning salon was the shooter.

Burton said it appears they will never know why the shootings took place.
