"Just leave him outside the house, and we'll take care from there. But that's what we want, we want to get him back," said Martin, the dog's owner.
The family, who asked ABC7 not to use their last name, is devastated to lose Remi, a three-and-a-half-year-old Shitzu/poodle mix.
The burglars also took the dog's crate along with an e-reader, and some other items.
The family says the burglars can keep the other items they took. They just want their pet back.
