New blood test could test for Down syndrome

The current test, amniocentesis, can cause miscarriages. A needle is inserted through a woman's abdomen into the uterus to remove a small amount of fluid to check for abnormalities in the genetic code.

But doctors say new blood test may make the amnio procedure a thing of the past. In a recent study, it detected every single case of down syndrome.

Doctors say this is new way get the same results without disturbing the womb.
