Ridership only down slightly despite CTA cuts

January 13, 2011 (CHICAGO)

CTA President Richard Rodriguez says the news is encouraging, especially when considering the impact of the recession and cuts in service.

The CTA reduced bus service by 18 percent in 2010 because of budget cuts. Rail service was cut by 9 percent.

Rodriguez says bus ridership was down 4 percent last year. Meanwhile, train ridership was up more than 4 percent.
