Missing teen's family, friends ask public for help

January 15, 2011 (CHICAGO)

They passed out flyers Saturday in the 4800-block of West Congress.

Yasmin Acree vanished from her home on January 15, 2008.

Her family says Chicago police mishandled the case by classifying her as a runaway.

Relatives believe someone took the 15-year-old. On Saturday, her mother had a message for Acree.

"This gets harder and harder. It doesn't get any easier," said Acree's mother Rose Starnes. "As I've said before, we love you and miss you and it's been much too long. We need you back at home."

The Chicago Police Department has said it's still aggressively investigating the case.
