Teen sentenced to juv. prison in beating death

January 18, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Albert was killed in a brawl on the city's Far South Side in September 2009. The attack was caught on cell phone video and gained worldwide attention.

On Tuesday, the judge acknowledged that the teen had not meant to seriously harm Albert in the attack, but she held him responsible for his death. The juvenile apologized to the family in court.

"He did what he did. It's been proven. The evidence is there. Those are just words. If he meant he meant it. If he didn't. OK, well, those are just words. We (are) looking for justice that's it," said Norman Golliday, Albert's grandfather.

Last week a Cook County jury found another suspect, Silvonus Shannon, guilty of murder in Albert's murder. Three others are awaiting trial.
