Packer parents in Bears country cheer on Green Bay

January 20, 2011 (MERRILLVILLE, Ind.)

Mike and Rhonda Neal are Packers parents living in Bears country.

"It's tough because people say, 'wow, you were a Bears fan. So don't you have a little bit left in you with the Bears?' I say it's tough to answer because right now I'm bleeding Green Bay," said Mike Neal Sr.

That's because, Mike Neal Jr. is a defensive end for Green Bay, Number 96.

"Right now it's like kick-off time. I've got butterflies now. It's like I'm out there playing myself," said Mike Neal Sr.

And Packer pride is alive. The Neals have a Packers Christmas tree and a Sport Illustrated where Mike Jr. made the cover. They also have pictures of his days at Purdue and Merrillville High School.

To top it off, Mike has three younger brothers who play football, too.

"We live, breathe, and eat football. It is our lives. It has consumed our lives. Everything we do is totally football related," said Rhonda Neal.

For the Neal family, it's about football, family, and most importantly, faith.

"Through all the trials you go through, all the injuries you have, always have faith that God is going to bring you through. And that's our biggest thing in the whole family. God is number one," said Mike Neal Sr.

The Neals say they also believe in hard work, and they hope it pays off for their son on Sunday. If so, they are Super Bowl bound.

"Do I think they have a chance to make it. Yeah! I have to say I do. But I'm nervous about it. We'll be there," said Rhonda Neal.
