USA Today: Some reusable bags contain lots of lead

Reusable bags are supposed to be better for the environment. But they may not be so good after all.

Tests by USA Today showed 21 different reusable bags sold by chains including Safeway, Walgreens and CVS had high levels of lead in the inserts.

It's the highest amount of lead that states will allow in consumer packaging.

The Center for Environmental Health says lead exposure can lead to brain and kidney damage.
