Sleeping with pet might be health risk

January 25, 2011

It's apparently rare, but it does happen.

More than 60 percent of American households have a pet and more than 60 percent of them let their dogs and cats sleep with them.

Research from the University of California finds that various diseases can be spread by the practice and can cause life-threatening heart and digestive system disorders.

Those with immunity issues are especially at risk.

Veterinarians suggest you make sure your pets are clean, especially if they spend a lot of time outdoors.
