Police: Only 1 shooting in Chicago during blizzard

February 4, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Officials say, for the most part, residents have been quite civil to one another.

"That is the one advantage, crime has been relatively low," said Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis. "I think we've gone 48 hours without a shooting. However, last night, one individual was shot as someone tried to steal his snow blower. But for the most part, no crime in the city for the past 48 hours."

The person shot in Thursday night's incident is now recovering.
