Snow-Trekking Fun in Chicago

With all the snow on the ground from the Blizzard of 2011, why not make the best of it and go snow-trekking at Northerly Island ( 1400 S. Lynn White Dr.)? The Chicago Park District is inviting you to circle the 91-acre peninsula on snowshoes or cross country skies. Best of all ? it's free on select Saturdays and Sundays!

Saturdays: February 12 & 19
Sundays: February 6, 13, 20 & 27

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Saturday, February 19th, from noon to 3 p.m., you can even make your own snowshoes for $20. Registration is required. Please call (312) 742-4914.

If you don't have your own snowshoes or cross country skis, equipment is available to check out for free on a first-come, first-served basis at the Northerly Island field house. For more information and to verify snow-trekking is taking place call (312) 745-2910.
