2 arrested in knifepoint iPod robbery in Mt. Prospect

February 10, 2011 (MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill.)

Around 10:20 p.m., a Mount Prospect police officer was approached by a 15-year-old boy who said he was robbed by two people on the street in the 700-block of Windsor Drive in Mount Prospect. The victim said one attacker tackled him and put his hand over his mouth while the second person displayed a kitchen knife and removed an IPod from the victim's pants pocket.

The victim told police he recognized the voice of one of the alleged robbers, and officers later spoke to that boy, a 15-year-old from Mount Prospect. Officers later found the second suspect, 17-year-old Daniel DeLaCruz, of Mount Prospect.

Both were charged Wednesday with felony armed robbery. DeLaCruz's bond was set at $50,000, while the younger suspect was sent to juvenile court.
