Salvation Army Red Kettles earn record $12 million

The charity reports it reached its goal of $12 million dollars.

The donations were not only made through the red kettles stationed in front of stores but also online in virtual red kettles.

The Salvation Army reports a large number of gold coins and precious coins were dropped in kettles across the area.

The Salvation Army is the largest provider of social services to people in the greater Chicago region.
