11 Boy Scouts earn Eagle designation

February 13, 2011 (CHICAGO)

That's the highest rank possible for a scout.

They're members of Troop 534, which meets at Saint Marks United Methodist Church.

On Sunday morning, they received their badges during an official Court of Honor at the church.

One scouting executive said he had never attended a ceremony with so many Eagle Scouts.

In fact, Troop 534 has produced 72 Eagle Scouts since 1951.

Longtime Scout Master Eddie Banks credits this achievement to careful planning, motivated individuals and committed parents.

To achieve the rank of Eagle, scouts must earn 21 different merit badges and implement a community service project.
