Target donates books to CPS students for Black History Month

February 15, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The retailer is giving 17,000 books to students at 31 schools.

Each student will receive one book to take home, a bookmark and a book bag. The books commemorate the contributions of influential African Americans throughout history, including President Barack Obama, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior and Rosa Parks.

Each school is also being awarded a $1,000 grant to purchase books for its own library.
