According to the assessor, an online newsletter called Bronzecomm published information that all taxpayers were overcharged between 2006 and 2009.
The story said taxpayers had to go to the assessor's office and file certificates of error. The story has been sent to many via e-mail.
The assessor says the story is false and has been retracted by Bronzecomm.
