Man shot by police in River North ID'd

The shootout happened near Chicago and Wells Wednesday afternoon.

Officers apprehended an aggressive panhandler, now identified as 56-year-old Reginald Hardiman. He was handcuffed in the back seat of the unmarked squad car.

Police say Hardiman somehow produced a gun and fired shots into the front seat at the two officers. One officer sustained a gunshot wound to his back, but is going to be OK. The other officer was injured by flying glass.
