Carey Villegas graduated from the University of St. Francis.
He is nominated with three colleagues in the visual effects category for his work on "Alice in Wonderland."
His family will gather and watch at a pizza party in Joliet.
"They're so excited," Villegas said about his family. "They know how many long years it took to get into this position. They're so supportive. My cousin Marcus is throwing a party at a local restaurant watching from there."
While that's going on, Villegas will walk the red carpet, attend the awards and then head off to the Governor's Ball.
