Authorities say Jason Hinton, 36, of the city's South Side was taken into custody and charged Saturday afternoon after police received information of a possible drugs transaction.
Officers reportedly were conducting narcotics surveillance when they received a tip that a vehicle would be delivering narcotics in the vicinity of 7700 South State Street.
During the investigation, officers say they observed Hinton driving a vehicle fitting the description and curbed it. They say the results of their investigation yielded three large, clear bags containing suspected cocaine.
Hinton, whom authorities say is a convicted felon, was charged and scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.
