The group Operation Welcome You Home greeted Sgt. Nathan Strieter as he left church Sunday morning.
Members of the Warrior Watch Riders and the American Legion were also there.
They thanked Strieter for his service.
He's a U. S. Army medic who just returned home after a year in Afghanistan.
"I wasn't expecting it at all. It's really great," Strieter said.
"It's amazing. I've attended about four or five of the Warrior Watches and it's a tremendous blessing to family and to the men and women that come home," said Strieter's father Phil.
A motorcade later escorted Strieter to the VFW.
This isn't the only big celebration he'll have this year -- Strieter is getting married in June.
