Report: North LSD could get makeover

March 14, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The Chicago Department of Transportation is reportedly planning the future reconstruction project together with other government and private agencies.

The Chicago Tribune reports goals include replacing deteriorated pavement, improving outmoded traffic designs like the sharp s-curve at Oak Street, alleviating congestion at intersections and expanding green space.

Officials say it will be another year before consultants are hired and at least two more years before the first phase of engineering gets under way.
