Former cop: More Gacy victims could be buried on NW Side

March 17, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Back in 1998, a radar scan was done on the property around an apartment building in the 6100 block of West Miami. Gacy had worked there as a handyman.

Former homicide detective Bill Dorsch says he met Gacy years before the killer's 33 murders came to light. And he once saw the handyman at the building with a shovel in hand at 3 a.m.

"There was no reason to be suspicious, until '78 when he's arrested, you know, then it's important. It wasn't important until then," he told ABC7.

Dorsch says he doesn't think the investigation at the apartment building in 1998 was thorough enough.

Police investigators have said it was and the case is closed.

Gacy was executed in 1994.
