Cereal: Better source of whole grain than other foods?

March 23, 2011

Cereal could reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure by 20 percent.

Researchers found that it may be a better source of whole grain than bread and other foods because it's usually served without added saturated fats.

Also, nuts, raisins or fruit often added to cereal contain fiber and potassium which can help lower blood pressure.

This research is being presented this week at an American Heart Association meeting in Atlanta.
