White Sox announce new organist

March 23, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Moreland succeeds Nancy Faust as the White Sox organist at U.S. Cellular Field. Faust held the job for 41 years before retiring after last season.

Moreland, who has played the organ since the age of 7, said she is a lifelong Sox fan.

"It is a dream come true," said Moreland in a White Sox press release. "Being the White Sox organist, specifically stepping into the shoes of a great musician and a wonderful woman, I simply hope to maintain the many great traditions Nancy started, and create some of my own for White Sox fans to enjoy at the ballpark."

Currently, Moreland is the organist at Our Lady of Knock Roman Catholic Church in south suburban Calumet City, Ill. Her first day as White Sox organist will be the team's home opener Thursday, April 7 at 1:10 p.m. vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.
