Whole Foods is expanding a test of serving beer and wine to customers.

By next year, the upscale grocery store chain plans to open small bars in more than a dozen stores throughout the country.

The bars are already open in a few markets including in Chicago. They offer craft beers and local wines.

The store hopes the bars will attract more customers, keep them in the store longer, and boost sales.
