Monday night, many residents attended a community meeting where they called for more security at the building. They also want to know about the future of the site.
"It's not just the security that's currently there. It's the use of the property going forward which is probably the more important issue, just to figure out what can go in the site where the medical center was and is now basically just hulking empty buildings," said Ald. Patrick O'Connor, 49th Ward.
The property on North Ashland Avenue has been vacant since the hospital closed in 2001.
