Study: Walnuts good for the heart

March 29, 2011 (CHICAGO)

It only takes about seven walnuts a day to reap the potential health benefits, according to a new study by the University of Scranton Pennslyvania.

Researchers found that walnuts have more antioxidants than other popular nuts tested. Antioxidants protect cells against damage caused by harmful molecules known as free radicals.

The damage can play a role in heart disease and other health conditions.

Among other nuts the study examined, brazil nuts were the runner-up for antioxidant content.
