Chicago Archdiocese: No timetable on Pfleger decision

March 31, 2011 (CHICAGO)

"There has been no decision made on Father Pfleger's future," Colleen Dolan of the Chicago Archdiocese told ABC7 News on Wednesday. Dolan said priest assignments are announced in June and July and said there was no timetable for any announcement regarding Pfleger's placement.

Pfleger has been at the South Side church since 1984. He wants to remain in that role, but he was asked to leave by Cardinal Francis George earlier this month. Cardinal George reportedly wants Pfleger to take over nearby Leo Catholic High School.

Pfleger sent a letter to the Archdiocese of Chicago about his desire to stay at St. Sabina's, where he has built the city's largest and most active African-American Catholic parish, but has not received a reply.
