City Inspector General Joe Ferguson has reported that the city wastes $18 million a year on 200 drivers.
He says they do nothing but take others to work and then drive them back. Daley says it would cost too much to try and change the contract.
"When someone wants, you wanna take something away from somebody, you know that in your own unions, that you have in your respective media, you've had unions, your union leadership will want something from you and that wanting is more expensive than what it is today," Daley said.
Daley says the contract clause dates from the mid-1980's before he took office.
