Pedestrian struck, killed by Metra train

April 4, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Train number 202 was halted after it struck a pedestrian near the Ashland station.

The person died. The incident was causing backups because train was scheduled to turn around and become an outbound train.

All trains were moving slowly through the area again as of 8:30 a.m. Earlier, crews had allowed Train 202 to pass through the area, but other trains were stopped while crews cleaned up and authorities continued their investigation.

Delays up to one hour and 15 minutes were reported. Passengers were encouraged to use the Rock Island trains Monday morning.
