Candidate accused in polling place assault

Baskin was charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor disregarding an election judge.

Baskin was at a polling place in the 37 th precinct at Nicholson School, 6066 S. Peoria, when he allegedly made verbal threats. Jim Allen, who is on the Chicago Board of Elections, said the precinct election judges called 911 "because of a verbal assault of the judges, which gave them the feeling of being threatened."

Baskin is running against incumbent Alderman Joann Thompson in the 16 Ward.
