Jazz performance to benefit Bernie Mac Foundation

April 6, 2011 10:00:00 PM PDT
Eric Darius, 28, performs Thursday as part of the Jazz and Soul Sessions Series.

Eric was a fan of Bernie Mac and Bernie was a huge fan of his as well. He's coming in to perform for the foundation's Jazz and Soul Session Fundraiser on Thursday at Close Up 2 Jazz Club. 416 S. Clark St. at 8 p.m.

For the Bernie Mac Foundation's Jazz and Soul Sessions Series, they've taken Bernie's iPod and actually gone through it and are selecting Bernie's favorite artist to feature at each music fundraiser. Bernie always incorporated music in every tour, and skit he did. He had the Mac Band made up of Chicago Jazz musicians. Music was his 2nd love after comedy.

Eric, who is currently touring the country to promote his latest album "On A Mission," is also visiting schools to promote the importance of music education and inspire the youth to express themselves through music and follow their dreams. Eric attributes his successes in his career to the opportunities he had in school and feels that music is a vital part of every child's education
