'World News with Diane Sawyer' to broadcast from Chicago

April 6, 2011 (NEWS RELEASE)

McDonald's is putting up a big "Now Hiring" sign as it works to recast the image of the company's entry-level positions. On April 19, for the first time in the company's history, McDonald's will conduct a nationwide hiring event and the woman at the forefront of the "McJob" campaign is Jan Fields. Fields began her career with McDonald's as a restaurant crew member in 1978 and over her 30-plus year career at the company has ascended through the ranks to become its top executive. Fields will talk to Sawyer about this new initiative as well as her experience working for the iconic American brand in an interview to air Thursday evening.

In addition on Thursday afternoon, Sawyer will be attending the Chicago Network's 22nd Annual Women in the Forefront Luncheon (WIFL) where she will be interviewed by WLS anchorwoman Kathy Brock.

Sawyer will anchor the broadcast from The Renaissance Hotel in downtown Chicago. "World News with Diane Sawyer" airs at 6:30 p.m., (ET) on the ABC Television Network and on WLS-TV at 5:30 p.m., (CT). Jon Banner is the executive producer of the broadcast.
