Creator of the ChronicBabe.com health blog, Prokopy tells what is was like when she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
"It's one of those invisible illnesses," said Prokopy. "It's not something that for most people, with fibromyalgia I think, that as you go through your day you might not look like you have anything going on but you have all these symptoms that are within that most people can't see."
Fibromyalgia is a condition that affects 5 million people, mostly women.
"I experience pain every day and I experience pain in a lot of different ways," said Prokopy "I may have some days, just general pain all over, and I go through my day anyway despite it. For example, the other day, I woke up and burst into tears, just from the moment that I woke up, and the pain was so intense from the minute that I woke up that I just felt like my day was going to be over."
Prokopy started ChronicBabe six years ago. She works on it from her home. The blog receives an average of 14,000 page views per month.
"The experience of being able to help people and use the challenges that I'm facing and maybe inspire them to do better through things like the website I have, ChronicBabe, or the writing I may do, freelance writing for different organizations or magazines or newspapers, if I can help them that's great and that inspires me to get up out of bed even if I'm having pain."
