The race was on starting at 8 a.m. at the State Street store Friday. Some determined women lined up in the rain to be among the first when the doors open.
Gowns will be available for a fraction of their ticket price.
Filene's says brides-to-be should bring friends to help sort through the racks, wear a swim suit or very light clothing so it's easier to try on dresses, consider arriving mid-day when many gowns will be back on display and the initial crowds thin out.
