Girl Scouts' 'Gift of Caring' sends cookies to troops

April 9, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Through the Gift of Caring service project, Girl Scouts send cookies to the women and men serving in the military.

Representatives of the effort visited the ABC7 Chicago State Street Studio Saturday to talk about the project.

Members of the public can make a donation to Girl Scouts, and the money will be used to buy cookies that are bundled and sent directly to local facilities, which aid in the logistics.

Local organizations include Operation M.O.M.S. Cookies in Wilmington; Yellow Ribbon Support Group in Palatine; and U.S.O. Naval Training Station in Great Lakes.
