Quinn wants to reform worker's compensation

April 12, 2011

The governor chatted with business people in Springfield, where it was Business Lobby Day 2011.

The governor said changes have to protect workers' rights and safety, but stressed the system must be reformed.

"Probably more businesses in Illinois pay more money in workers' compensation premiums every year than they pay in corporate income tax. So we want to make our state a place where businesses have a little more opportunity to grow and prosper. This is a key issue," said Quinn.

He says reforms can include better-trained arbitrators, electronic billing by insurance companies, and making sure non-work-related injuries are excluded from the system.
