Drivers in five states are paying more than $4 per gallon for gasoline, and Illinois is one of them.

The other four states are Hawaii, Alaska, California and Connecticut.

Gas prices have increased for 25 consecutive days. The national average is currently $3.82 per gallon.

Some predict gas prices could reach a record high by Memorial Day. The highest average price ever in the U.S. was $4.11 back in July of 2008.
