Experts say too many parents think injuries are "part of the game," but half of team sports injuries can be prevented.
An estimated 10 percent of the 38 million American kids participating in sports every year are treated for a sports-related injury. The most prevalent injuries are sprains, pulled muscles, bruises, broken bones and lacerations.
The survey found about 25 percent more children participate in two or more team sports, compared to a decade ago, with nearly a third playing multiple sports in a single season.
Experts note that parents should not place undue pressure on children to succeed since less than 1 percent of children ever advance to the professional levels.
