The school will be located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood near 47th and Damen. It will serve 1,200 students and is slated to open in 2013.
At the event, the Peace and Education Coalition of Back of the Yards announced the creation of the new Richard M. Daley Lifetime Achievement Award. The mayor will be the first recipient.
