Researchers at several hospitals monitored 100 patients who suffered heart failure. Half of the participants practiced tai chi for 12 weeks. The other group received heart-education training. Those who did tai chi showed significant improvements in mood and well-being compared with the other group.
Previous research has shown tai chi can also reduce blood pressure, decrease pain from arthritis and fibromyalgia, improve sleep, and ease depression in the elderly.
The study is published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
